The following are the detailed notes on the design considerations for the Beagle, and explain why we say this bike is a solid touring bent, designed to meet every demand.
1) The bike is readily transformed into a 5-bag touring bike
2) The design-ergonomics of the two mid-paniers maximizes gear loading
3) The FRP seat is aesthetically beautiful, lightweight and sturdy FRP seat
4) The frame is aluminum, to provide tough structural integrity
4a) The frame can be used for all-year-round riding
4b) The frame can be used under all weather conditions
4c) The frame is lightweight-aluminum in order to save energy in the climbs.
4d) The frame is diamond shaped (rear triangle and triangulated cockpit) for solid, flex-free structural integrity. A flexy frame causes pedalling power losses.
5) The boom is fixed, non-telescoping, in order to maximize pedalling power output and eliminate the need for chain-link removal/addition when adjusting seating position
6) The handlebars are "wraparound" in order to keep the steering mast aligned with the forks' steerer tube. This alignment prevents "tiller" effect. Tiller is the tilting-back of the steering mast, causing an undesirable swinging effect of the steering mast when you turn the handlebars.
7) The steering system is multi-adjustable.
7a) The steering mast tilts forward and back and can be locked at any desirable position.
7b) The standard stem rises up and down, in order to adjust knee clearance and hand position
7c) The handlebars rotate at the collar of the standard stem, in order to adjust the hand position.
7d) The steering system adjust to all sizes of people
8) This is a "one-size-fits-all" bicycle.
9) The front-derailleur tube can be used to attach fairings and lights onto it.
10) The brake-bridge prevents deformation of the rear triangle, brought upon by extreme overloading and braking forces
11) The rear carrier is wide and long, in order to load much gear.
12) The rear triangle provides solid pedal-power transfer to the rear wheel
13) There is a bracket to house a kickstand and rear fender
14) The downtube provides solid stability because it triangulates the frame.
15) The downtube prevents the rear triangle from ripping off the oval tube.
16) The downtube transfers the brake forces and loads into the oval tube.
17) The gusset prevents the destruction at the headtube area by transferring the front wheel's braking forces and the road-impact forces into the oval tube.
18) The ovalized tube prevents bending of the frame brought upon by pedalling forces and loads.
19) The bike is equipped with waterbottle bosses, for long distance hydration.
20) The PolyUrethane tubes protect the chain from dirt/dust/sand/mud and minimizes the chain's exposure to the outdoor environment.
20a) The PolyUrethane tubes protect the rider's legs.
21) The seat-base mounts and side-rack mounts are not standard M6 bosses. They are in actuality, super-strong cross-tubes which have been welded transversely through the frame.
22) The rear brake can be chaged from Linear-pull brakes into disc-brakes.
23) The rear rack mounting points are super strong mounting bosses
24) The telescoping rods which support the back of the FRP seat, are multi-adjustable, and easy to adjust, without the need of tools.
25) The bike uses 20-inch front wheel configuration in order to easily access and mount yourself onto the bike
26) The bike uses a 26-inch rear wheel configuration in order to preserve speed momentum (brought upon by the high polar moment of inertia of the big rear wheel),
26a) The bike uses a 26-inch rear wheel configuration in order to equip the bike with a standard-bicycle's drivetrain components, thereby keeping the bike low-priced and facilitating repairs.
26b) The bike uses a 26-inch rear wheel configuration in order to equip the bike with a standard-bicycle's drivetrain components, thereby eliminating the need for intermediary gears or oversized chain-rings at the crankset (commonly needed in 20-inch rear wheels)
27) The bike has a 9x3 drivetrain configuration, to provide the rider with ample gear range in the uphills and downhills.
